Dinner at Forlino Restaurant


This is another restaurant with great panoramic view that I have been wanting to visit for quite sometime. So tonight, I finally managed to. Forlino is another restaurant "on the bay", and is located at 1 Fullerton Road #02-06 One Fullerton, Singapore 049213 and the number to dial is 6690 7564. 



Forlino's is a classy restaurant with contemporary design in soothing hues, and sweep-your-feet-off views right outside its glass windows. Golden chandeliers dangle from the ceilings, giving the restaurant a hint of enchantment that grows with the darkening night.




This place serves classic Italian fine-dining cuisine by celebrated Chef Kentaro Torii. Besides outstanding views, the hospitable, courteous service provided by the service staff is also excellant. Charmaine* and I had a lovely table by the windows and we were treated to gorgeous views of the Marina Bay area.


After a series of dilemmas between meats and various pasta dishes (this place is well-known for its homemade pasta), we placed our orders. While waiting, this delicious Focaccia with slightly-crispy skin and the inside was warm and soft. There was a generous serving of light, tasty Parmesan flakes that came alongside the Focaccia, and it made the perfect accompaniment.



Our mains came next. First, it was the recommended Tortellini ai Cinque Formaggi e Tartufo - cheese tortellini, saffron cream sauce, slow-braised kurobuta pork cheek, beetroot puree and autumn truffle. The effect was a very sumptuous cheesey pasta that melted in the mouth. The pork cheek was utterly tender and delicious as well. The combination was just superb; every bite was a lovely burst of delight.



Next, another marvelous choice - Tagliolini ai Frutti de Mare - tagliolini, red prawn, Hokkaido scallops, baby cuttlefish, mussels and sea bass - all the quality, superior ingredients in a single dish. The seafood were cut into small pieces for easy eating, and all was fresh. This pasta was seafood-filled totally, but we thought that even without these seafood items, the pasta itself would have tasted great too. The tagliolini was fine and springy in texture; best of all it was infused with the rich flavor of lobster (bisque) so we reckoned it was cooked in superior stock / base. 



Our idea of a palette cleanser was the house signature dessert - Salty Butter Caramel Lava Cake (allow 15 minutes to prepare). The first spoonful of the caramel ice-cream was heavenly, it was rich and very much redolent of the "burnt-buttery" flavor of caramel, only it was not too sweet. This made it perfect. We ate it with the lump of rice krispies served together, so there was an additional crunchy feel to it. The lava cake was fabulous - having eaten chocolate ones all the while, this came as a pleasant surprise. The cake was crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The light buttery taste of the cake was accentuated by the heavier, sweet taste of salty-butter-caramel lava oozing out the moment we cut into it. We understood perfectly well why this was the signature dessert of Forlino's

We each spent SGD$55.00 on this very enjoyable dinner.
