Lunch at Tim Ho Wan @ Aperia (revisit)

12 Kallang Avenue #01 / 2 / 3 Aperia, Singapore 339511

Having been to Tim Ho Wan at Plaza Singapura before (review here), as well as the outlet at Aperia (review here), I decided to do lunch here again, this time with the mom and bro. The queue was long during weekend lunchtime, but was effectively cleared rather quickly. We already knew what we wanted to order anyway.

The Baked Bun with BBQ (SGD$5.00) as well as Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake (SGD3.50) were must-haves, and hence I had them here again. The buns were still crispy on the outside and luscious within; the osmanthus cake was still cooling and aromatic with flowery flavors.

We also had the Pork Dumpling with Shrimp (SGD5.50), better known as "Siew Mai" to most people. The pork meat was rather tender, and small meat dumplings were generously filled with shrimps on top and within.

Next, we had the Vermicelli with BBQ Pork (SGD5.00) - the thin vermicelli roll was silky smooth and the BBQ pork was rather tender; it tasted good on the palate.

Following that, we had the Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce (SGD$5.00) - plump and succulent chicken feet and delicious beancurd skin, soaked in the most flavorful gravy resplendent of abalone taste.

We also tried the Congee with Lean Pork (SGD$4.20), porridge cooked to a smooth, watery pulp the way I love it (Cantonese "zok" style). The lean pork was tender, and the congee carried the lovely taste of its ingredients - century egg, pork and egg, very well.

Last but not least, Jade Wanton in Laksa Sauce (SGD$5.00) - bouncy fresh shrimps in wanton, served in a thick and spicy laksa gravy, alongside with some dried beancurd (taupok) pieces that soaked up the tastiness of this entire dish.

Finally, the second dessert which also happened to be a Chinese New Year specials - Lucky Purple Tapioca Ball (SGD$3.80).  The pretty dessert resembled mandarin oranges, or tangerine oranges. Breaking apart the orange mochi skin, one finds thick and sticky purple tapioca paste within, a lovely contrast in colors but beautiful complement in flavors.

We also had a Chinese Tea each (SGD$1.30) to polish off the greasy food we had.
