A new cafe which has replaced the long-defunct Citrus House (review here), we were oleasantly surprised to discover Central Perk Cafe reigning at the first level of Central Mall now, taking over 2 to 3 units for our favorite F.R.I.E.N.D.S. themed retail and cafe.
Interior decor was uncanny to a lovely urbane American Cafe with street lamps, brick walls, sectionized seating and a raised podium for live band, no less. If one loves spacious concepts, this would be the ideal fit.
Huge glass windows give patrons good views of the outdoors as well. Service was excellent if you manage to get hold of their attention to your table.
For coffee, there are many blends to choose from, and with lovely names such as Phoebe Buffay, Monica Geller, Ross Geller and Rachel Green - ring a bell?
The guys went for the Latte (SGD $8.00) while I had The One With Chocolate (SGD $8.00), aka Mocha. The coffee was served in colorful cups that were larger than life, like a bowl, with circumference of a saucer.
Flavour was robust and rich in chocolate an dark berry goodness; darkly seductive on the palate, and incredibly smooth with a clear finish. This was a French Roast by the way.
We also munched on some Garlic Fries over coffee and project discussion. Interesting fries sporting garlic fragrance - tasty to eat, but we were thankful that day was ending and we did not have to meet anymore clients after that.
A very neat, very cool place, literally transporting one away from the bustle of citylife, into happy, relaxed settings. Welcome back to your favorite sitcom!
